Rules2Tag · Tutorial
Your first auto-tagging rule, in five steps
The whole point of Rules2Tag is that a tag stays true: you preview a rule on a real record before it changes anything, then let it run — and it removes its own tag the moment a record stops matching.
-
1
Install and open Rules2Tag
Add the app from the Shopify App Store. It opens straight inside your Shopify admin — there is no theme change and nothing to paste anywhere.
-
2
Start from a preset, or write your own rule
Pick a ready-made preset (for example, tag your highest spenders) or build a rule from scratch by choosing conditions and a tag from lists — no typos, no regex.
-
3
Preview it on a real customer, order or product
Pick a real record from the dropdown and see instantly whether the rule would tag it, with nothing saved or changed. Adjust a condition and preview again as often as you like.
-
4
Save it, then set it live
A new rule saves as a draft, so nothing is tagged until you switch it on.
-
5
Run it — on new records automatically, or backfill what you already have
Once live, matching records are tagged as they arrive. Run a dry run or a real sweep over your existing customers, orders and products at any time, and check the Activity log to see exactly what changed.
